Luuk van der Laan has more than 30 years of experience as a registered lawyer, of which 8 years as Philips in-house lawyer. In a legal practice with small businesses to corporate conglomerates, he is well acquainted with the various client’s internal drivers and decision taking processes.

Since his position in Philips Electronics he provides legal support in a global context, while also getting involved in the internal business processes.
In 2006 Luuk started his own private international practice with clients – mainly – in the technology sector and in all different phases of their development.

Prior to law school, he studied physics, which is why he quickly gets a picture of the technologies that his clients work with, as well as the relevant aspects of intellectual property rights (IPR).

Through this background and experience, he makes it standard practice to take the client’s commercial interest as the primary guideline for his work, while operating in a practical and flexible manner, but of course taking into account all relevant legal aspects.

Luuk van der Laan is registered at the Netherlands Bar Association with specialisation in Contractual Law and Civil law. Based on this registration, he is required to obtain at least ten training credits per calendar year in each of these legal practice areas in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
